A charming wedding in Abruzzo
This intimate destination wedding in Italy was undoubtedly all about "la dolce vita."
Anthony and Arianna both live in Connecticut US but decided to tie the knot in Italy. It was the groom's wish to honor his Italian roots and get married in the same place his father was born, the lovely town of Bucchianico set in the beautiful region of Abruzzo.
After a week of dinners and celebrations, the ceremony happened in the beautiful old baroque church in the historic center of the town. The bride had asked for an elegant and subtle setting of flower arrangements with eucalyptus leaves, peonies, freesia, and roses.
The all-Italian "aperitivo" took place in the gardens of a stunning 17th-century castle nestled on Abruzzo's hills, offering dramatic views of the countryside and the mountain. The 4-course dinner, based on the delicious Abruzzese specialties, was then served in the main hall under the hundred years old vaults.
Then all the guests gathered in the cellar of the castle among the ancient barrels to watch the young couple cut the traditional Italian wedding cake.
